Seawitch is acrylic on wood. The title and theme was from a group art challenge, but kind of fits in with what I generally do ok. I wanted to avoid what I'd call celtic cliches so I started with a pose commonly used to depict seated egyptian gods, and the Ankh on a staff crept in. I also thought a male witch would be fun. The ankh troubled me hugely, as it is definately an overused symbol but It's meaning, life, and the key of the nile fit too well, and any other staff troubled me just as much so it stayed. Painting on wood was the experiment, as I have not enjoyed paper recently, and canvas is very bulky. My conclusion was inconclusive my having neither loved nor hated the process. I think I'll have to try again to see what I really feel. His emotions and purpose are meant to be ambiguous.
