In Norse legend the goddess of beauty is infact a god, not that the goddesses aren't frequently lookers too. He also dies, killed by the trickery of Loki, and the unwitting involvement of his blind brother Hodur the black. Interestingly his brother is unjustly executed for his involvement but granted by the tellers an eventual resurection and immortality shared by only two other gods, his beautiful brother, and his artful cousin Bragi. Baldur is perfect and beautiful, Hodur is not, and he is blind, but they are both good and pure in a way that even the mightier gods are possibly lacking. This featured in the out of sight out of mind exhibition 2018. Acrylic on canvas, 60 by 50 cm I think.
