EMPLOYMENT

IMIGEA LTD (Jan 2004-Present)

imigea multimedia web site

I am currently a co-director of IMIGEA.LTD

IMIGEA Ltd is an Edinburgh company run By Pete Roobol and Myself. We specialise in creating learning material, games, and 3D presentation for the web and CD Rom.
The resposibilities of project management, marketing, development and research are all shared roughly equally, and doled out on a job for job basis, depending on whose key strengths and interests are more strongly tied to each job. Thus far, this has meant that we have been able to produce multimedia and games experiences that usually excel our client's expectations, and are sometimes ground breaking.

We have produced:

Web games( 3D and 2D browser based shockwave and flash games)

for National newspapers, milk companies, games based learning developers, and our own web gaming portal www.gamevial.com, which gets an astounding 100,000 unique visits per calendar month.

eLearning and promotional materia
(TRAINIng cds/web sites, Marketing e-cards featuring 2D and 3D examples and interactive lesons where relevant).

for the heritage industry, alternative health practitioners, Oil industry trainers, and our own archaeological site www.3Dancientwonders.com, which gives the users a chance to examine and walk around ancient sites and relics in web 3d.
2D and 3D Graphics, branding and web sites
For alternative medicine practitioners, alternative musicians and crane handlers.

Therefore, I'm not looking for work at present, but if you need the skills described in this site, they are all available from www.imigea.com.

DRUMMOND INTERNET (free-lance Mar 2003)
I recently worked free-lance for Drummond Internet, producing a racing game for a Client of theirs called John Clark.
My brief was to Create a 3D racing game featuring a Mini cooper and two other cars, which I could choose.
I had to research, and build models of all of the cars, and build a track based on the world famous Le Mans track. All images, code, and resource materials had to be researched and created by myself.
I also created the in-game sound effects, and voice-overs.
I integrated the game’s group scoreboard, and mail-a friend functionality with John Clark’s existing server technology (ASP), and all the interface graphics.
This game can be viewed at www.john-clark.co.uk/game.htm

REDOVADO (Dec 2001-Aug 2002)
Some friends and I won the E-Falkirk new enterprises competition, our prize consisting of free office space for a year and a £5000 start up loan. The company develops multimedia content for the web, the idea being that a full multimedia experience, including video, games, sound, graphics and 3D will add user satisfaction and stickiness to web presence, as well as communicating to a wider audience.
I was responsible, as head of graphics for:

  • 2D and 3D design, and animation.
  • 3D modeling and formatting for games/ video presentations.
  • Games Design and concepts.
  • Building Web pages in HTML.
  • Programming in lingo/action-script for Shockwave, Flash, and stand-alone applets.
  • Design navigation maps/trees.
  • Video editing and manipulating.
  • Proofing and editing Proposals, Legal documents, etc.
  • Meeting with clients/potential clients/users.
  • Demonstrating Products

PICT 8 (Sept-Nov 2001)
A Glasgow firm, specialising in 3D architectural realisations in the forms of video, CDROM, and printed media. I was involved in:

  • Designing logos and branding for blue chip companies.
  • Authoring and debugging CD ROM applications, and brochures
  • Retouching computer generated buildings to add realism.
  • Preparing documents/layouts for commercial printing.

I left to join REDOVADO.

IMIGEA MULTIMEDIA (1996-1998)
A company that was involved in the production of educational multimedia in Hertfordshire, Imigea was set up to complete a commission from the Welwyn Garden City Council to produce an environmental package for schools.
My responsibilities are detailed below:

  • Help design the Navigation maps, and general feel of the program.
  • Design, and create images for The Program (painting, photography, sound and video).
  • Co-represent the program in numerous scientific fairs and in-school demonstrations.
  • Work as a programmer in the text based code GLPRO™.

SCOPE for people with cerebral palsy (Jul 1998-Dec 1998)
I also worked as an assistant manager of a charity shop in St Albans, which I regard as important business training.
Here, I had to deal with the general book keeping of the shop, as well as work with a variety of volunteers, some of whom had learning difficulties. I had to deal with the public on a daily basis, handling the security, safety, morale, and customer relations of the shop, which had a diverse clientele. This makes me more able to work with a variety of different people.
I worked there for four months on a voluntary basis and for four months on a basic wage, but eventually left because I decided that I wanted to pursue a more challenging career.
