lalune
Lalune was done in August 2020. 50x60cm acrylic on canvas.
I've done a rendition of the tarot card already, and am annoyingly fond of it many years later, but I wanted something both more and less classical.
Here a character faces a silent world peopled only by vehicles on a river become road. The coffin-like cars or transport pods and the distant bridge represent the fears or dangers ahead.
The empty buildings and streets, isolation.
Bizarrely my camera loved this picture. Bizarre, as I never got comfortable with the colours myself. I'm still making my mind up about this.
It sits on an awkward fence between expressionism, science fiction, and the depiction of tarot.
I guess that's a fairly good summation of my personal situation. Mysticism, fine art, and illustration are fighting it out within me. They seem strangely incompatible.
