lykewake2 is acrylic on A3 paper. A couple of people have asked why I haven't painted about coronavirus. Now you kow why. Of course it's dark, it's me, and of course I'm as worried by what it will do to our attitudes and lifestyles as I am in the disease itself, despite my age and health going agaimst me. The black death was the final straw that broke the back of ancient paganism. Many blamed "witches" for disease, and the church very much rode that paranoia. I think that in many ways we are as divided and lost as they were then. In the UK, coronavirus ironically will probably save the NHS, hence the bizarre "panic show". I knew folks would need it, and I knew that a good time had come to highlight it. For those who are curious, we made £305 for the NHS. Imagine how many lives the NHS saved before this pandemic, and how many it will go on to save. When this is over, or when we have given up, give someone a hug. The rainbow has become a symbol of the NHS recently, they're pretty and in Christianity they represent the forgiveness of a then not very forgiving god. In Norse mythology the rainbow is the trembling bridge, a symbol of uncertainty and judgement after death, the treacherous road to Asgard.
