piperatthegates

piperatthegates acrylic on canvas 70*50cm This is the second painting since summer that I like. It was hell to do, which is always a good sign. Right now the world appears to be drowning in fears of environmental catastrophe. I'm still more scared of war, and nuclear energy than anything than carbon can do on that level, but I'm scared too. Here a woodland spirit does a last herald to the dying gods in front of a large metal comntainer, itself a homage to the modernist dream that also seems sickly now, at best. I don't believe that we can kill the world, but I believe we can make it a very sad place, even with the best of intentions. The painting's full name woud be The last piper at the gates of dawn. Homage to Kenneth Grahame's wind in the willows.
